M-Braves Make Post Season All-Star Team

Pearl, MS - On Wednesday, August 31, the Southern League announced the 2011 Post Season All-Star Team and two Mississippi Braves were honored. Ernesto Mejia was named Designated Hitter and Tyler Pastornicky was named Shortstop to the team.

Mejia has been a power while playing first base for the Braves all season long. To date, he has hit 22 homeruns, breaking the previous individual season record of 19 set in 2007. Furthermore, with 89 runs batted in to date, Mejia has eclipsed the previous individual season RBI record of 80 set in 2010.

M-Braves shortstop, Tyler Pastornicky, has also had a phenomenal year within the Braves farm system. Spending the first half of the season in Mississippi, he amassed an overall .299 average, complete with 6 homeruns and 36 RBI. After a stellar first half with the M-Braves that also earned him the starting shortstop nod for the Southern League All-Star Game, he was promoted to AAA-Gwinnett. Now in Gwinnett, he is batting .345 at home and a crushing .404 while on the road.

The Mississippi Braves home season ended on Tuesday night, August 30. Starting Thursday, September 1, you can tune into WYAB on 103.9 FM and follow the M-Braves during their final five games on the road against the Carolina Mudcats.
