MOBILE, Ala. - On Wednesday, the Southern League of Professional Baseball announced its 2011 Postseason All-Stars which included three members of the BayBears as Paul Goldschmidt, A.J. Pollock and Ryan Wheeler were selected.

Goldschmidt was chosen as the league's best first baseman after clubbing a franchise-record 30 home runs and driving in 94 before his promotion to the major leagues on August 1. Goldschmidt was also picked as the 2011 USA Today Minor League Player of the Year on Wednesday. He still leads the league in runs batted in, slugging percentage, on-base percentage and base on balls while he's now tied for the home run lead with Carolina's Neftali Soto.

Pollock placed as one of the league's top outfielders. He's hit .305 this season while setting the BayBears' mark for most hits in a season with 164. His 101 runs scored are the second-most in BayBears' history while he has cracked a team-leading 38 doubles to go with a team-high 34 stolen bases. He's also played a near flawless center field as he's committed just one error all season.

Wheeler gets the vote as the league's best third baseman while punching out 16 home runs and 84 runs batted in this year. Wheeler was the D-backs 2009 Minor League Player of the Year after being drafted that June as a fifth-round pick out of Loyola Marymount (Calif.) University. Wheeler helped carry the BayBears through a tremendous 22-6 record in July by batting over .400 for the month. He will participate this year in the Arizona Fall League as a member of the brand new Salt River Rafters.

The Second Half South Division Champion BayBears begin their final regular season series on Thursday against the Huntsville Stars from Joe Davis Stadium at 6:43 p.m. The BayBears return to Hank Aaron Stadium on Saturday, September 10 for game three of the South Division Championship Series against the Birmingham Barons at 7:05 p.m. There will be a fireworks show after the ballgame and a 9/11 tribute before the contest. For tickets, which start at $5 for kids and $7 for adults, please call (251) 479-BEAR or visit www.mobilebaybears.com. You can also follow the BayBears all season long on Facebook and Twitter.
