Erie SeaWolves News Release

(Erie, PA) - The Erie SeaWolves, Double-A Affiliate of the Detroit Tigers, are teaming with UPMC Health Plan to "Paint the Park Pink" this weekend to generate awareness for breast cancer issues. The annual event, which raises funds for local cancer charities, will take place June 8-10 at Jerry Uht Park during the SeaWolves games against the New Britain Rock Cats (Minnesota Twins).

The SeaWolves will wear special pink uniform tops all weekend long. These special game-worn jerseys will be auctioned off with proceeds to benefit The Regional Cancer Center and the Kanzius Cancer Research Foundation. Last year's auction raised $3,500 for these organizations.

"This is one of the most unique events we host each season at Jerry Uht Park," said SeaWolves President Greg Coleman. "We're proud to partner with UPMC Health Plan to raise awareness and funds for two very deserving organizations."

The weekend's festivities include a pink and white SeaWolves cap giveaway to the first 1,000 fans on Friday, June 8. Saturday night's game will feature post-game fireworks and a special Pink Glove Dance during the 7th Inning Stretch featuring volunteers from The Regional Cancer Center, Saint Vincent Health System, and UPMC Hamot. All fans in attendance will receive pink medical exam gloves to participate in Saturday's dance.

The SeaWolves continue their six-game homestand tonight as they take on the Trenton Thunder (New York Yankees) at Jerry Uht Park. First pitch is set for 7:05 p.m. with gates opening at 6 p.m.
