CHANTILLY, VA (March 2, 2004) - United for D.C., the charitable arm of D.C. United, today announced plans to host the Second Annual First XI Charity Kick-off Luncheon on Tuesday, March 30th at 12:00 p.m. at Top of the Town in Arlington, VA. United President and CEO Kevin Payne will give a keynote address, and Head Coach Peter Nowak will formally introduce members of the 2004 team at the luncheon.

"United for D.C. is excited to announce its plans for this second annual event," said Catherine Marquette, Executive Director of United for D.C. and United Director of Community and Fan Relations. "We're pleased that D.C. United has partnered with us yet again to celebrate the start of its ninth MLS season and to help us raise necessary funds. The team's fans, United for D.C.'s donors and the overall Greater Washington, D.C. community should be excited to hear first-hand about D.C. United's plans for a brand new soccer stadium in the District."

Payne, who aided in putting together the original group of investors for D.C. United during the creation of Major League Soccer (MLS) and now serves as the President and CEO of the organization, will address plans to bring a soccer stadium to Washington, D.C. Nowak, in his first year with the club, will also deliver a season preview as the team prepares for its Major League Soccer home opener April 3rd. Comcast SportsNet anchor Russ Thaler will emcee the event.

In addition to the speaking presentation delivered by Payne and Nowak, United for D.C. will also host a First XI Celebrity Silent Auction featuring D.C. United memorabilia, autographed items from each of the First XI D.C. United players as well as other items from around the League.

Tickets to the limited space event are $85 per individual, $750 per table and $2,500 for presenting sponsor recognition. Table and sponsorship purchases provide organizations and companies with acknowledgement via table signage, from the podium and in the program book. In addition, each table of nine will be paired with a D.C. United player or coach.
