Union-FC Dallas Match Postponed to Saturday, 4 p.m.
March 20, 2015 - Major League Soccer (MLS)
Philadelphia Union News Release
Chester, Pa. (March 20, 2015) - After careful review and consultation with the participating clubs and local authorities, Major League Soccer has decided to postpone tonight's match against FC Dallas as a result of the poor weather conditions predicted for this evening. The game has been rescheduled for tomorrow with kick-off at 4 p.m.
"We had every intention to play our match as originally scheduled, but the current weather conditions will challenge the safety of our fans, players, and staff, and they always will be our first priority," Union CEO and Operating Partner Nick Sakiewicz said. "With a sunny day in the high 50's forecasted for tomorrow, we look forward to welcoming everyone to a magnificent setting at PPL Park."
There is a winter weather advisory for Chester, Pa., as well as much of the surrounding areas, until 8 p.m. Friday. Snow accumulations are expected to be 2-4 inches, much of which is expected to fall in the early afternoon making for dangerous traffic conditions.
Along with discussion from both clubs, the league ultimately decided to move the match to tomorrow in the best interest of the fans and the clubs. The match will be played at 4 p.m. and will now be broadcast on Univision Deportes Network (UDN). Univision will also live stream the game online. It was originally scheduled for UniMas.
