
Chicago Fire Midfielder Shaun Maloney Called up to Scottish Men's National Team

CHICAGO (March 20, 2015) - Chicago Fire midfielder Shaun Maloney has been selected by Scottish Men's National Team head coach Gordon Strachan for Scotland's upcoming international friendly against Northern Ireland on March 25 and the UEFA Euro 2016 qualifying match against Gibraltar on March 29. Both matches will be played at Hampden Park in Glasgow, Scotland.
A Scottish youth international, Maloney made his senior international debut for Scotland when he entered in the second half of a World Cup Qualifying match against Belarus on Oct. 8, 2005 and scored his first international goal on June 6, 2007 in a UEFA Euro 2008 qualifier against the Faroe Islands. Maloney has since earned 37 caps and scored four times for Scotland.
Maloney is scheduled to depart following the Fire's match against the San Jose Earthquakes at Avaya Stadium on Sunday, March 22 at 6 p.m. CT (FOX Sports 1/ESPN Deports 97.5 FM). Maloney will miss the Fire's home match against the Philadelphia Union at Toyota Park on Sunday, March 29 at 4 p.m. CT (ESPN2/ESPN Deports 97.5 FM).
