Union advance to the quarter-final of the Scotiabank Concacaf Champions League

CHESTER, Pa. - The Philadelphia Union beat Deportivo Saprissa 4-0 in the second leg of the Scotiabank Concacaf Champions League round of 16 on Wednesday night at Subaru Park. With the win, the Union advanced to the quarter-final, 5-0 on aggregate. In the first half, the Union won the possession battle but were unable to convert on a few chances. In the second half, the Union took the lead after Jamiro Monteiro scored on a penalty kick in the 47th minute. The goals would start to come quickly for the Union as Przybylko scored just four minutes later on an assist from Monteiro. Monteiro would get his second assist on the night finding Fontana for a goal in the 54th minute. In the 90th minute, Monteiro would find the back of the net for a second time. The defense would hold on as Andre Blake was able to secure his second clean sheet of the tournament.

The Union advance to the quarter-finals of the Concacaf Champions League and will face Atlanta United FC. The following round will begin on April 27-29 (first leg) and May 4-6 (second leg), with the Union hosting the second leg. The Union will open MLS play away at Historic Crew Stadium on April 18th where they will face Columbus Crew (5:30 p.m. ET / FS1). They will return to Subaru Park on April 24 to take on Inter Miami CF (8:00 p.m. ET / PHL17).
