Nashville SC News Release
NASHVILLE -ÃÂ After a quiet start to life in Music City, winger Handwalla Bwana is ready to make waves in year two.
Bwana, who started his career as a homegrown player for the Seattle SoundersÃÂ FC, was traded to Nashville in October of last year and made two regular season appearances for the club in 2020, as well as two appearances in the Audi MLS Cup Playoffs.
Now that he's had time to adapt to his new surroundings, things are looking up for the former Sounders Academy product.
"I've learned so much. I know what I have to do, I know what Gary [Smith] likes and what the team is like and also getting used to the team. Now the guys are used to the type of player I am; they know how I want the ball and where I want the ball. It's been really good."
Bwana is a talented attacking player,ÃÂ and is ready to display his attacking prowess with Nashville. "That's the reason why [Nashville] brought me here is to bring that little spark, that little attack that Nashville was missing last year," said Bwana.
Nashville SC starts their 2021 MLS campaign with four straight matches at home, giving the Boys in Gold an early advantage to start their season.
"It's huge ... you start off with a confidence boost," said Bwana. "If we get those home games [and the] three points, going forward, going on the road, there is going to be so much confidence for the lads, and it's going to be huge for the team."
Nashville SC will begin the 2021 MLS season with its home opener,ÃÂ presentedÃÂ by Jackson,ÃÂ on April 17 against FC Cincinnati at Nissan Stadium. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. CT, and tickets to the match can be purchasedÃÂ here.ÃÂ VisitÃÂ NashvilleSC.comÃÂ and the club's social channels onÃÂ Instagram,ÃÂ Facebook, andÃÂ TwitterÃÂ to keep up to date with all things Nashville SC.
