New England Revolution Youth Development Highlights: April 14, 2021

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. - The New England Revolution Academy continued its 2021 MLS NEXT Spring Season with each of the four teams playing twice over the weekend - hosting Oakwood SC on Saturday and FC Westchester on Sunday at Gillette Stadium. The Under-19s, Under-15s, and Under-14s both went unbeaten with each team recording a win and a draw, while the Under-17s split the weekend with a win and a loss.

In addition, Revolution II kicked off its 2021 USL League One campaign with a first-ever visit to face Fort Lauderdale CF, claiming a 1-0 victory in their season opener that saw five current Revolution Academy players make an appearance.

All four Revolution Academy teams return to action next weekend with matches against Beachside SC at Gillette Stadium on Sunday, April 18. Meanwhile, Revolution II hosts Richmond Kickers on Saturday, April 17 for its home opener.

Revolution MLS NEXT Highlights

- Forward Ronilson Mendes (2002 - Brockton, Mass.) scored the opening goal for the U-19s on Saturday and provided the game-winning assist for Triton Beauvois (2003 - Malden, Mass.) on Sunday.

- Midfielder Samson Kpardeh (2005 - Worcester, Mass.) bagged a brace on Sunday, scoring both goals over a four-minute span late in the second half to give the U-17s a victory.

- Midfielder Angel Ortez (2006 - Revere, Mass.) scored a goal on Saturday and added three assists on Sunday while U-15s teammate and forward Enzo Goncalves (2006 - Hyannis, Mass.) scored a hat-trick on Sunday after recording an assist in a 3-3 draw on Saturday.

- Midfielder Diego Xhikneli (2006 - Glastonbury, Conn.) added a goal and an assist and forward Jordi Tornberg Ayala (2006 - Revere, Mass.) recorded a pair of assists over the weekend for the U-15s.

- Forward Raphael Alves (2007 - Framingham, Mass.) scored the winning goal for the U-14s on Saturday and provided all three assists in a 3-3 draw on Sunday.

Revolution II and Alumni Highlights

- Defender Cole Dewhurst (2003 - Lancaster, Mass.), midfielders Hikaru Fujiwara (2003 - Lexington, Mass.), Noel Buck (2005 - Arlington, Mass.), Morris Matthews (2003 - Westwood, Mass.), and forward Michael Tsicoulias (2002 - Newton, Mass.) comprised the quintet of Academy players to feature for Revolution II on Saturday.

- Buck, Dewhurst, and Academy graduate Dennis Ramirez (2001 - Waltham, Mass.) all made their professional debuts. Buck, who earned his first professional start, played the full 90 minutes and finished the night with eight possessions gained and two clearances in the midfield while Dewhurst and Ramirez entered the match as second-half substitutes.

- Fujiwara, who recorded his second-career assist, made his 11th Revolution II appearance, second-most among Academy players for the club.

- Academy alumni Justin Rennicks (1999 - Hamilton, Mass.) and Damian Rivera (2002 - Cranston, R.I.) both started for Revolution II in their season opener. Rennicks finished the night with one shot and four duels won while Rivera recorded two shots with one on target and a key pass.
