Sioux Falls Canaries News Release

Lincoln, NE - Mike Pinto and Edgard Clemente were ejected from Saturday night's game at Haymarket Park, a 2-1 loss for the Canaries (4-11)

The Lincoln Saltdogs (11-3) drew first blood in the bottom of the first inning. With runners on first and second base Saltdog second baseman Josh Patton hit a fly ball to centerfield. With the sun in his eyes, Canaries centerfielder Edgard Clemente dropped the ball. Jose Torres and Pichi Balet both scored, giving Lincoln a 2-0 lead.

In the top of the seventh inning, Clemente was ejected from the game for arguing balls and strikes after getting rung up by home plate umpire Bobby Entrekin. Canaries skipper Mike Pinto came to the plate to argue the call and was also thrown out of the game. The ejections seemed to fuel Abner Arroyo who took the very next pitch out of the ballpark for his third home run of the season, a solo shot, to make it a 2-1 game.

The Canaries would not be able to tie the game. Saltdogs closer Jerrod Fuell came on in the ninth for his fourth save of the year. In his first start for the Canaries, Peter Bauer (0-1) threw six innings allowing two unearned runs on six hits in the hard luck loss. Brian Rodaway (1-0) debuted for the Saltdogs and got the win.
