
White Sox sign Camacho

EL PASO - The El Paso Diablos, members of the American Association, have announced today, that the contract of first baseman Juan Camacho has been purchased by the Chicago White Sox organization. Camacho, a native of Venezuela, was hitting .460 with 4 HR and 19 RBI's over the first 12 games of the season.
Last season with the Diablos, Camacho was named the Central League's player of the year for 2005, Batting .328 with 21 home runs and 100 RBI's.
"As an organization we're excited for Juan, and at the same time sorry to see him go," said Matt La Branche, General Manager for the El Paso Diablos. "That is what this league is all about."
The El Paso Diablos are members of the newly formed American Association of Professional Baseball. In 2005 the Diablos led the Central League in average attendance while averaging well over 4,000 fans each night at Cohen Stadium. This year El Paso and Cohen Stadium will play host to the 2006 American Association/Can-Am League All Star game on July 18.
