@Pensacola, FL. Time: 2:26 Attendance: 1,911
W: Ben Walker (1-0) L: Mal Winters (0-1) S: NONE
HR: PEN-Tim Dorn (1)
Pelicans' RHP Ben Walker came on after the third inning and didn't allow the Sports anything the rest of the way. Walker worked six innings of scoreless relief, giving up only a hit and two walks while striking out nine to record his first win. Shreveport's starting pitcher Mal Winters certainly didn't pitch poorly. Winters allowed just two runs, both in the second inning, on five hits and two walks while striking out five. Pensacola 1B Tim Dorn hit his first home run of the year to lead off the second inning and stake the Pelicans to a one-run lead. After a walk to LF Ed Montague, RF Palmer Carr hit a double to drive him in for the game's only other run. Sports' C Jason Torres went 1-for-3 as did 3B Melvin Falu, to record the lone hits for Shreveport in the loss.

Lincoln 2, Sioux Falls 1
@ Lincoln, NE. Time: 2:11 Attendance: 4,262
W: Brian Rodaway (1-0) L: Peter Bauer (0-1) S: Jerrod Fuell (4)
HR: SF-Abner Arroyo (3)
The Saltdogs were the beneficiary of good pitching by their starter Brian Rodaway as well as relievers Jarrett Gardner and Jerrod Fuell. Rodaway went five innings and only allowed a hit and a walk while striking out five. When Gardner took over he allowed the Canaries' only run in three innings of work and struck out seven, and Fuell took the ball in the ninth and held Sioux Falls scoreless to pick up his fourth save of the year. 2B Josh Patten was 1-for-3 and drove in both runs for the Saltdogs and CF Cory Harris went 2-for-4, the only player on either side with a multi-hit game. Sioux Falls wasn't short of good pitching either. Starter Peter Bauer went six strong and allowed two runs on seven hits in the losing effort.

Coastal Bend 6, El Paso 2
@ Robstown, TX. Time: 2:45 Attendance: 1,395
W: Pedro Flores (1-0) L: Andy Torres (0-1) S: NONE
HR: ELP-Braulio Castillo (3); CB-Brian Fryer (1)
Coastal Bend starting pitcher Pedro Flores pitched seven innings and only allowed four hits and one run while striking out six en route to his first victory of the season. For El Paso, LF Braulio Castillo hit his third home run of the season and went 2-for-4. Also homering in the game was Aviators' RF Brian Fryer who was 2-for-3 with two runs scored and three RBIs to lead his team's offense. Coastal Bend got three runs in the bottom of the second thanks to five hits and an El Paso error. Those runs put the Aviators up 3-1 and would prove to be the difference when El Paso could only manage one more, late in the contest.

Sioux City 4, St. Joe 3
@ Sioux City, IA. Time: 2:55 Attendance: 1,836
W: Trevor Marcotte (1-1) L: Andrew Edwards (0-1) S: Sean Kramer (2)
HR: NONE
Sioux City starting pitcher Trevor Marcotte went 6.2 innings and allowed two runs on five hits to notch his first win of the year. Four separate Explorers had multi-hit games, led by CF Ryan Ruiz who was 2-for-2 with a run scored. Both he and 2B Julius Thames, who was 2-for-4 with a run scored, stole their second bases of the season to provide big help for Sioux City at the top of the lineup. Six separate players were responsible for St. Joe's six hits. They were only able to score one run in the eighth inning, which proved insufficient in erasing the Sioux City lead.

Fort Worth 3, St. Paul 1
@ St. Paul, MN. Time: 2:44 Attendance: 5,986
W: Ryan Weems (2-0) L: Charlie Ruud (1-1) S: Steven Wilkerson (2)
HR: SP-Jeremy Frost (2)
Fort Worth starting pitcher Ryan Weems got his second win of the year in front of a crowd of nearly six thousand. Weems pitched seven strong innings, allowing just four hits and one run en route to the victory. With the game tied at a run apiece, the Cats used back-to-back hits and an ensuing throwing error to score the go-ahead run that would prove to be enough in topping the Saints, who were held scoreless after the second inning. 1B Jeremy Frost was 1-for-4, including his second home run of the year and 3B Victor Rodriguez was 2-for-4 to lead the Saints at the plate in the losing effort.
