U.S. Olympian Honored at Bombers Game

Dayton, OH- The Dayton Bombers of the ECHL announced today that 2006 Olympic Bronze Medalist and Piqua, Ohio native Kristin King will be honored with a special jersey presentation by the Mayor of Troy, Michael Beamish before the game against the Cincinnati Cyclones at Hobart Arena in Troy, at 6:30 p.m. on Sunday, March 18th.

"Kristin has donated her time and made a conscious effort to help Troy Youth Hockey grow and we wanted to show her some appreciation in return by honoring her with the jersey presentation," said Director of Recreation Ken Siler. "Having her jersey displayed in the main corridor here at Hobart Arena will constantly remind everyone of what she means to the city of Troy."

Kristin King won a Bronze Medal while playing for the U.S. Women's Hockey Team during the 2006 Winter Olympics that were held in Torino, Italy. King also won a World Championship and was a Four Nations Cup Silver Medalist in 2005 while playing for team USA.

She tallied 120 points in 127 career games while playing her collegiate hockey at Dartmouth College. King also played softball at Dartmouth and was named team MVP in 1999 and 2002. Following the completion of her collegiate career, she signed with the NWHL's Mississauga Ice Bears in 2002. King then joined the Oakville Ice in 2003 and recorded 21 points in 28 games. She was the recipient of the Kenneth Archibald Prize, which is given to a Dartmouth College senior who has been the best all-around athlete with regard to moral worth and high standing in scholarship.
