Tyler Steel Stops 44 to Give Huntsville the 3-1 Win Over Pensacola

HUNTSVILLE, AL- The Havoc score first for the first time in five and hold on for the 3-1 win against the Pensacola Ice Flyers in front of 5,000+ fans at the Von Braun Center for Star Wars/Teddy Bear Toss Night.

Huntsville registered the game's first goal off the stick of Dylan Nowakowski just under seven minutes into the opening frame. The Calgary, Alta. natives seventh of the season was assisted by Sy Nutkevitch and Rob Simpson.

"We talked about having a good start and it shows that we prepared for this game and the outcome shows it," said Nowakowski.

Later in the period, Nolan Kaiser walked in on the right wing side faking the shot and finding Lou Educate on the goal mouth. Educate tapped home his tenth of the season to give Huntsville the 2-0 lead heading into the second.

With the Havoc pressuring the Ice Flyers in the second, Dylan Nowakowski scored his second of the night in the slot off a pass from Sy Nutkevitch make it a 3-0 game.

"I've been fortunate enough to play with good teammates," says Nowakowski. "I feel like my linemates contribute a lot to my scoring. They find me in the right spots and I am just lucky enough to finish them."

During a physical third period, Pensacola with the extra attacker in the final minute of regulation broke Tyler Steel's shutout bid. But the Brown University goaltender was too much for Pensacola stopping 44 of 45 on the night to register his fourth win of the year.

Jersey Auction

The Havoc wore special Chewbacca jerseys for Star Wars night with a jersey auction after the game.

Tyler Steel's number 35 was the highest but overall with the help of the fans, the Havoc raised $11,960 for Melissa George, World of Work, St. Jude Research Foundation, North Alabama Hockey Association and Manna House.

Teddy Bear Toss

During this time of giving, Havoc fans tossed 510 bears onto the ice, which will be donated to Toys for Tots, after Dylan Nowakowski scored Huntsville's first goal of the night.

Honorable Mentions

After seeing his point streak end last night, Sy Nutkevitch two assists in the game and now has multiple points in five with four multiple assist nights.

Dylan Nowakowski now has goals in three of last five and registered his fourth multi-point game of the year.

Without giving up a goal in the first, Huntsville broke a stretch of four straight giving up an opening frame point. Before giving up a first period goal on November 12th, Huntsville went four straight without giving up a goal in the opening period.

Huntsville went 5-5 on the Eco Smoke penalty kill this evening and now have killed off 18 of last 19 dating back to November 4th.

The Havoc have wins in three of last four against the Ice Flyers dating back to April 1st of last season.

Tyler Steel has given up two or less in five straight outings while stopping thirty or more in two straight.

Next Game

The same two teams will meet Saturday night for the second half of a home-and-home with the action starting at 7 p.m. in Pensacola.
