
Two-Time Kelly Cup Champion Returns to South Carolina

North Charleston, SC - The South Carolina Stingrays and Head Coach/Director of Hockey Operations Cail MacLean announced today that the team has agreed to terms with forward Maxime Lacroix. In keeping with club policy, details of the agreement were not disclosed.
Lacroix, 23, skated with the Stingrays for 63 games during the 2008-09 season scoring 33 goals and 31 assists for 64 points and appeared in all 23 Kelly Cup playoff contests netting 18 points (13g, 5a) as the Stingrays captured their ECHL-record third Kelly Cup title. Last season, the Quebec, PQ native dressed in 38 games with the Cincinnati Cyclones of the ECHL tallying 17 goals and 11 assists for 28 points and recorded 12 points (3g, 9a) in 19 postseason games as the Cyclones won their second Kelly Cup championship in three seasons. A 5th round draft pick by the Washington Capitals in the 2006 NHL Entry Draft, Lacroix spent part of the 2009-10 campaign with the Hamilton Bulldogs of the American Hockey League recording three points (1g, 2a) in 27 games.
"Max is a pro, pure and simple," said MacLean. "He plays hard, he trains hard and he does it all with a no-nonsense attitude. He was one of our top playoff performers during our 2009 Kelly Cup run and he played a crucial role in Cincinnati's win last season. We are very happy to have him back on board this season."
Prior to turning pro, the 6-foot, 180-pound forward spent four seasons with the Quebec Remparts of the QMJHL acquiring 83 goals and 93 assists for 176 points in 254 contests. While with the Remparts, Lacroix was a member of the 2006 Memorial Cup Championship team.
The Stingrays drop the puck on their 18th season of hockey in the Low Country on Friday, October 22 against the Gwinnett Gladiators at 7:35 p.m. at the Arena at Gwinnett Center. Opening Weekend is set for Friday, November 5, Saturday, November 6 and Sunday, November 7 against the Florida Everblades at 7:05 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. at North Charleston Coliseum.
