ONTARIO, Calif. - The Ontario Reign, proud affiliate of the NHL Los Angeles Kings, announced that defenseman Matt Delahey has been signed to a standard player contract for the 2010-11 season.
Delahey, 21, joins the Reign for his first year of professional hockey after a six year WHL junior career which began in 2006. He played most of his six seasons with the Regina Pats, but played the final 26 games of the 2009-10 season donning a Chilliwack Bruins sweater. He totaled 75 points (14g, 61a) and 305 penalty minutes in 258 regular season games as well as five points (5a) and 14 penalty minutes in 23 playoff games.
Known for his physical play and stay-at-home style, the Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan native is a sound addition to a young defensive core.
The Reign begins its third season, presented by San Manuel Indian Bingo & Casino, on Saturday, October 23, 2010 against the Stockton Thunder at 7:00 PM.
