Two Seattle Thunderbirds were selected in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft Saturday afternoon at the Xcel Energy Center in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Center Colin Jacobs and left wing Marcel Noebels were both taken in the fourth round of the draft, nine spots apart.

"Draft day is the start of an opportunity. It is great to see Colin and Marcel get the chance to take the next step towards their professional careers," said T-Birds general manager Russ Farwell from the draft. Jacobs was selected in the fourth round, 107th overall, by the Buffalo Sabres.

Jacobs, from Coppell, Texas, played in 68 games last season and had 44 points on 22 goals and 22 assists. In his two year career with the T-Birds, Jacobs has 35 goals and 35 assists for 70 points.

"I am really excited to be drafted by Buffalo," said Jacobs from the draft floor. "I am looking forward to starting the next step in my career to become an NHL player."

Noebles was drafted by the Philadelphia Flyers in the fourth round, 118th overall.

Noebels, from Tonisvorst, Germany, appeared in 66 games last season and had 54 points on 28 goals and 26 assists. Noebels, the T-Birds first round pick in the 2010 CHL Import Draft, was a member of Team Germany at the 2011 World Junior Championship.

"It's a great feeling to be drafted by Philadelphia," said Noebels from the draft. "This is something I have been working towards and it is great to see it happen. I look forward to being a part of the Flyers organization. I am also looking forward to getting back to Seattle and starting to get back to work because being drafted is only the beginning."

The T-Birds full 2011-12 regular season schedule will be released on Wednesday, June 29.

T-Birds season tickets are currently on sale. Season tickets can be purchased by calling the T-Birds office at 253-239-7825.
