Ruopp Goes in 3rd Round of NHL Entry Draft to Phoenix

Prince Albert SK - Prince Albert Raiders defenceman Harrison Ruopp has been selected in the 3rd round, 84th overall at the 2011 National Hockey League Entry Draft by the Phoenix Coyotes today in St. Paul, Minnesota.

Ruopp was the Raiders 2nd round pick (31st overall) in the 2008 Western Hockey League Bantam Draft and had 38 penalty minutes in 33 games with the Raiders as a 16 year old in the 2009-10 season. In the 2010-11 campaign, as a result of injury, Ruopp was limited to just 54 games but still managed to earn 98 penalty minutes, 9 assists and a +8 rating. Ruopp added 9 penalty minutes. Ruopp played in all 6 playoff games against the Saskatoon Blades where he established himself as a punishing defenceman.

The 6'2" 193 lb rearguard was ranked 102nd overall amongst North American Skaters in Central Scouting's final report that was released on April 11th, 2011.

Ruopp is the second Raider selected in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft after the Chicago Blackhawks selected centre Mark McNeill in the 1st round, 18th overall last night.
