Kannapolis Cannon Ballers News Release

KANNAPOLIS, NC -The Intimidators scored five two-out runs on Wednesday night at Fieldcrest Cannon Stadium to take a 5-2 win over Augusta and snap the GreenJackets eight-game winning streak.

Eduardo Escobar went 3-for-3 with two triples, two RBIs and a pair of runs scored to power an offense that had scored just one run combined over the last two games. Escobar's two-RBI triple in the second inning gave Kannapolis an early lead they would not relinquish.

The early cushion was in safe hands with Dexter Carter (6-2) on the bump. The Kannapolis right-hander did not allow a run in six innings, striking out nine to push his Minor League-best total to 138 on the season. Carter has not allowed a run in 15 straight innings.

Kannapolis extended their early lead to 5-0 thanks to RBIs from Drew Garcia and Brandon Short. Short homered off of Augusta starter Eric Surkamp (6-5) for his second long ball of the season.

Surkamp took the loss, giving up all five Intimidators runs. The southpaw struck out six and walked just one in six innings of work.

Dan Remenowsky capped the night by getting the final three outs in a light rain for his 14th save of the season.
