Two out hits pace Crushers in 3-1 win over Equipe Quebec

AVON, Ohio - The Lake Erie Crushers won their third game in a row on Tuesday night at Mercy Health Stadium, as they took the opening game of their three game set with Equipe Quebec, 3-1.
The Crushers (12-12) not only won their third straight, but the victory also puts them at .500 for the first time since May 29, while the loss for Quebec (11-13) was their fourth in a row.
There were 16 hits in the game altogether, including nine for the Crushers, and they recorded four of those with two outs.
Lake Erie fired the first shot in the bottom of the second inning. Bryan DeLaRosa reached on a one out base hit, and Connor Oliver followed with a free pass. Steve Passatempo's infield single then loaded the bases before Zack Gray sent a single into right field to score DeLaRosa, giving the Crushers a 1-0 lead.
Quebec answered two innings later, tying the game at 1-1 in the top of the fourth inning. David Glaude started the inning with a single to right and stole second base. A walk was issued to Jesse Hodges before Ruben Castro's double to left field scored Glaude. Ryan Feierabend was able to work himself out of the one out jam with runners on second and third, after inducing a fly out and then striking out Elliot Curtis to end the inning.
The Crushers put a two out rally together in the seventh inning to take a lead that they would not surrender. General McArthur started the two out rally with a single to right field. Isaac Benard then belted a base hit to left field before Trevor Achenbach walked to load the bases. Brody Wofford, who had driven in eight runs in his previous five games, delivered once again, as he smacked a two run single to left field to give the Crushers a 3-1 lead.
Pitching was pretty strong all night long on both sides, as both starters worked their way out of trouble. Feierabend went five innings and allowed a run on four hits over five innings but took a no decision. Aaron Glickstein (1-1) tossed two scoreless innings in relief and fanned two batters to pick up the win while JT Perez (3) also tossed two scoreless innings as well to grab the save. Codie Paiva (0-2) was the hard luck loser, allowing just two runs in seven hits over 6 2/3 innings of work.
Benard and Wofford paced the Crushers offensively, with two hits apiece. Both went 2-for-4 on the night. Benard has now hit safely in five straight games, while Gray has now reached safely in seven consecutive games.
The Crushers will continue their series with Equipe Quebec at Mercy Health Stadium on Wednesday night. Right-hander Sean Johnson (0-3, 2.35) will start for the Crushers and Quebec will counter with lefty Miguel Cienfuegos (2-1, 2.05). The first pitch is scheduled for 7:05 PM.
