Two New Faces Join the Catfish

Columbus Catfish News Release


Columbus, GA – The Columbus Catfish have added INF Cole Bruce, a non-drafted free agent from the University of Houston, and RHP Kyle Wilson, a 22nd round selection in 2004 from UCLA, to their active roster.

Bruce will come to Columbus after spending most of the season at the Dodgers' extended spring training complex in Vero Beach. Last season he played for manager Travis Barbary in Ogden, hitting .233 with two home runs. This season, Bruce played in two games for the Dodgers' high-A Affiliate, going 3 for 5.

Wilson will join the Catfish after starting the season with the Dodgers' high-A Affiliate Vero Beach Dodgers. While at Vero, he went 0-2 with three saves and had an ERA of 9.00 in 12 relief appearances. This is his first professional season.

To make room for Bruce and Wilson, the Catfish have placed RHP Jesus Castillo and RHP Phil Sobkow on the disabled list. Castillo left Tuesday night's game with right elbow soreness. It was the second straight start he had left due to injury.

Tonight the Catfish are in Augusta to begin an eight-game road trip. They return to Columbus on Saturday, May 21st to begin a four game series against the Savannah Sand Gnats (Nationals).
