Two Monarchs Events Help Raise $5,000

MANCHESTER, NH – The Manchester Monarchs, the primary affiliate of the Los Angeles Kings, helped raise $5,000 for Manchester and the state of New Hampshire last week by hosting two events, American Heroes Night and Hockey 101: For Women Only, at the Verizon Wireless Arena. Monarch fans purchased over 300 phone cards ($5 per card) during American Heroes Night on Saturday, November 13. The 30-minute phone cards will be given to New Hampshire servicemen and servicewomen for use during the holiday season. In addition, over 200 post cards with inspirational messages were mailed to New Hampshire servicemen and servicewomen, courtesy of the Monarchs, WGIR AM/FM and PrintZoo. Saturday's promotion included an appearance from Rock 101.1 FM's Greg and the Morning Buzz during the first intermission, and a performance from the New Hampshire Police Association's Pipe and Drum Band.

The Monarchs first-ever Hockey 101: For Women Only event raised $3,200 for the Monarchs Care Foundation on Wednesday, November 10. A total of 86 women listened intently to a faculty that included Director of Hockey Operations Hubie McDonough, Head Coach Bruce Boudreau, Assistant Coach/Strength and Conditioning Coordinator Dane Jackson and players Yanick Lehoux, Ryan Flinn, Adam Hauser, Joe Rullier, George Parros and Chris Schmidt. WMUR Sports Personality Naoko Funayama, a member of the Lady Monarchs hockey team, also provided insight during the two-hour program that included on-ice and off-ice instruction.

The Monarchs return to action when they travel to the DCU Center in Worcester to meet the Worcester IceCats on Thursday, November 18 at 7:05 p.m. After that, the Monarchs will host the Lowell Lock Monsters on Friday, November 19 at 7:35 p.m. at the Verizon Wireless Arena. Ticket Availability: Single seats in the Gold level and 2,400 seats in the Silver level remain for Friday's game against the Lock Monsters.
