Providence Bruins News Release
The Providence Bruins announced today that center Patrice Bergeron will represent Canada during the upcoming World Junior Championships, which will be held in Grand Forks, North Dakota and Thief River Falls, Minnesota. Pre-Competition games begin on December 20, while the tournament gets underway on December 25. Bergeron will report to Canada's team on December 13, and will remain with the team for the duration of its run in the tournament. The gold medal game will be played on January 4, 2005.
"This fulfills an understanding that we had with Patrice when he signed a contract with the Providence Bruins that he would be able to play in this tournament," said Providence Bruins General Manager Mike O'Connell. "I talked to people in Hockey Canada and they welcomed his participation in this tournament. We believe it will be a positive experience for him as a young player."
Bergeron, a 19-year-old native of Ancienne-Lorette, Quebec, ranks third on the team with 4-5-9 totals in 10 games.
The Providence Bruins host two games this weekend, beginning on Friday, November 19 at 7:05 p.m., when they face off with the Springfield Falcons. They also host the Philadelphia Phantoms on Sunday, November 21 at 4:05 p.m.
Bruins wives and girlfriends will kick off the team's annual Thanksgiving Food Drive for this weekend's games. Non-perishable food items will be collected in the Dunkin' Donuts Center box office lobby, and donated to the Rhode Island Community Food Bank. Food will be collected on Friday from 5:45 p.m. â 7:30 p.m., and on Sunday from 2:45 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.
The Providence Bruins are pleased to offer the new 3-Game Plan. There are four different 3-Game Plans to choose from, each offering three exciting games for just $24.
