
Two Gorillas Headed to All-Star Game

AMARILLO, TX â The outstanding play by the Amarillo Gorillas has caught the eye of Garry Unger who has been filling out his roster for the Northern Conference for the upcoming 2003 Dodge CHL All-Star Game in Oklahoma City on January 23.
Unger has selected Gorillas forward Henry Kuster and defenseman Mark DeSantis to be part of his Northern Conference squad.
Kuster, a native of Edmonton, Alberta, has 20 goals and 13 assists for 33 points for the Gorillas this season. Kuster is the team leader in power play goals with six and is tied for first in game-winning goals with four with rookie Derek Hahn.
"Henry has been a great two-way player for us all year," said Gorillas Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Joe Ferras. " He has scored several big goals for our hockey club and itâs great to see him get rewarded with a well deserved trip to the all-star game."
DeSantis, a native of Brampton, Ontario is no stranger to all-star games as he was chosen as captain of the Southern Conference team last year in Corpus Christi as a member of the San Antonio Iguanas. The Gorillas team captain has been a leader on the ice and in the dressing room this season and has four goals 19 assists for 23 points in 31 games.
"I knew when we signed Mark over the summer that he would make a huge impact on our hockey club," said Coach Ferras. " Mark has been a great leader both on and off the ice and for him making another all-star appearance is a nice reward for his great efforts this season.
The Dodge CHL All-Star game takes place at the Ford Center on Thursday, Jan. 23 at 7:30 p.m. DeSantis and Kuster will be participating in the all-star banquet as well as the Skills Competition which will take place prior to the game at 6:15 p.m.
