Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs News Release
BOSSIER CITY, LA â The Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs are pleased to announce today that forward Dan Wildfong has been selected to represent the team in the 2003 Central Hockey League All-Star game on Thursday January 23rd at the Ford Center in Oklahoma City, OK.
Wildfong's selection to the Northern Conference All-Star Team was made by Northern Conference Head Coach Gary Unger of the Tulsa Oilers as well as the CHL's hockey operations department.
"This is a great reward for a player that has had a tremendous first half for us," said Mudbugs Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Scott Muscutt. "Dan is our leading scorer and has worked hard since the start of training camp to continue as one of the top players in this league. It's great to see him recognized for the success that he's had."
Wildfong leads the Mudbugs in scoring with 29 points and is also tied or leading the team in goals (12), assists (17), plus-minus (+11), power play goals (5), and penalty minutes (160). The fourth-year Mudbug began the 2002-2003 season in training camp with the Mudbugs' AHL affiliate, the Rochester Americans.
The 2003 All-Star Game will be the second of Dan Wildfong's career after participating in the 2000 WPHL All-Star Game in Amarillo during his rookie season with the Mudbugs. The Clinton, Ontario native is now in his fourth year with Bossier-Shreveport and his fourth in professional hockey. Wildfong graduated from Colgate University in 1999 after a four-year career with the Raiders.
The Mudbugs will visit the Ford Center tomorrow night to take on the Oklahoma City Blazers before traveling to Fort Worth on Friday and Memphis on Saturday for two Northeast Division battles. The team's next home game is Thursday Jan. 16th against San Angelo (originally scheduled for Jan. 18th).
