Silver and John Named All-Stars
January 8, 2003 - Central Hockey League (CHL)
Indianapolis Ice News Release
INDIANAPOLIS, IN-- The Indianapolis Ice announced today that goaltender Shawn Silver and defenseman Bernie John have been named to the Northern Conference roster for the CHL All-Star Game to take place on Thursday, January 23 in Oklahoma City, OK.
For Silver, it is another high note to an already successful first-year campaign in North America that also includes being selected the CHL's Goaltender of the Month for the month of December to go along with being a three-time CHL Goaltender of the Week recipient.
Silver, who set the CHL record for consecutive scoreless minutes (222:01) earlier this season, currently rests second in the league in goals-against-average (1.87) and save percentage (.931) and is tied for third in wins (15) and shutouts (3). He also has a seven-game win streak and a six-game win streak to his credit this season.
John, 30, will be making his third consecutive appearance in the mid-season classic and third straight in an Ice uniform. The ten-year veteran has scored more points than any other CHL defensemen the last four seasons as the veteran blueliner has amassed 242 points (66G, 176A) dating back to the start of the 1999-00 season. He currently ranks fifth among league defensemen in scoring (31 points) and third in assists (25).
Indy, who is 20-9-5 this season and 9-2-0 in its last 11 games, resumes regular season action when the team travels to Wichita, KS on Friday for an 8:30 p.m. contest with the Thunder. The team then returns home on Saturday (1/11) for a 7:00 p.m. face-off with the Odessa Jackalopes from the Pepsi Coliseum. Tickets are as low as $10.
Fans can purchase tickets for this Saturday's game and all individual games at all Ticketmaster locations including select Marsh Supermarkets, Karma Records, select L.S. Ayers and the Pepsi Coliseum and Conseco Fieldhouse box offices, or by calling 239-5151 or online at ticketmaster.com.
