Lancaster Stormers News Release
For the second time this season, the Minnesota Twins have looked to the Lancaster Barnstormers to bolster their Class AAA Rochester farm club.
The Twins have signed outfielder Logan Schafer for the Red Wings, it was announced today. He will join left-handed pitcher Andrew Albers, whom the Twins signed after one start with the Barnstormers in April. Right-handed reliever Marcus Walden, a member of the 2015 Lancaster squad, is also in Rochester.
Schafer, 29, joined the Barnstormers on May 10. In his three weeks, the former Milwaukee Brewer batted .299 with two homers and nine runs batted in. He leaves the club on an 11-game hitting streak during which he batted .348 and had extra base hits in each of his last four games.
The California native signed with Milwaukee in 2008 and batted over .300 in both 2009 and 2011 in their farm system. He has spent a portion of each of the last five seasons in Milwaukee, including the entire season in 2013. The lefty batter has played in 292 big league games.
"Logan is a tremendous outfielder and a class act," said Barnstormers manager Butch Hobson. "It was really a pleasure having him here these last three weeks."
