Rochester Red Wings News Release
ROCHESTER, NY - The Genesee Brew House and the Rochester Red Wings invite Rochesterians to Turn Back the Clock and celebrate the stories and history of their 137-year-old brewery and 138-year-old baseball team. The Brew House and Red Wings are proclaiming May 15 to May 17 as "Turn Back the Clock Weekend in Rochester" and have planned events and activities to celebrate the history and heritage behind Rochester's favorite beer and baseball team!
"Baseball and beer have gone together forever, bringing a sense of nostalgia for spending quality time with friends and family," said Dan Mason, general manager for the Rochester Red Wings. "Brewed just a 'homerun' away from Frontier Field, you can't enjoy a fresher beer than an ice cold Genesee."
The Rochester Red Wings have a long history, dating back to 1877. Like Genesee, the team prides itself on staying true to its roots; it's one of the only baseball franchises to have been playing in the same city since the 19th century.
"The Red Wings have been a part of the Rochester community for decades," said Carrie Duggan, brand manager for Genesee. "We want to celebrate their history while also providing Rochesterians new ways to connect with Genesee's heritage.
"People who haven't explored our Genesee Brew House should stop by for a visit," said Duggan. "It's a great place to learn more about Rochester's brewing industry while also getting a taste of some of the new innovative beers created in our pilot batch brewery."
