Tulsa Falls to Fort Wayne

RENO, Nev., January 8, 2014 - The Tulsa 66ers fell to the Fort Wayne Mad Ants, 105-97, at the NBA D-League Showcase in Reno, Nev., on Wednesday night.

Four 66ers scored 14 or more points, led by Reggie Williams with a game-high 26 points. Ben Uzoh was two assists shy of a triple-double, posting 16 points, 11 rebounds and eight assists. Rodney Bartholomew scored 16 points, 10 of which came in the fourth quarter, and Xavier Alexander collected 14 points and seven boards off the bench.

After outscoring the Mad Ants 27-26 in the opening quarter, Tulsa trailed 54-44 at halftime when Fort Wayne outpaced the 66ers 28-17 in the second. The 66ers fought back in the second half, using a 13-0 run in the heart of the third quarter to pull within two heading into the final frame.

Tied at 89 with just over four minutes to play, Williams put Tulsa ahead on fast-break dunk assisted by Alexander. The Mad Ants responded with a pair of three-pointers to take a four-point lead. Fort Wayne went on to shoot 10-for-10 from the foul line in the final three minutes to hold off the 66ers. The fourth quarter featured four lead changes and was tied on four instances.

The 66ers (4-14) maintained control down low with a 42-35 rebounding advantage and outscored Fort Wayne 58-32 in the paint. The 66ers have outscored their opponents in the paint in 14 of their 18 games this season and have won or tied the rebounding margin in eight consecutive games.

The Mad Ants (10-7) were led by Ron Howard with 21 points, five boards and a pair of assists.

Tulsa is back in action on Friday night for the first of back-to-back games against the Sioux Falls Skyforce. Friday night's game is Tulsa's annual Thunder Affiliate Night, which features Thunder mascot Rumble the Bison, the Thunder Girls dance team, Storm Chasers and Thunder Drummers bringing the excitement of the Thunder game experience to the SpiritBank Event Center.
