Bighorns Tarnish Armor in Showcase Nightcap

RENO, NEV., Jan. 8, 2014 - The Reno Bighorns blew away the Springfield Armor by a score of 121-79 in the final game of day four at NBA D-League Showcase presented by Samsung Galaxy.

K.C. Rivers led the Bighorns with a game-high 27 points on 9-of-14 shooting to go along with four rebounds, four steals and three assists. He connected on 7-of-12 three-point attempts in the win.

Reno got off to a hot start in front of the home crowd, scoring 35 points in the first-quarter. Rivers provided 14 points in the opening frame. The Armor would march back into it after trailing 37-24 early in the second-quarter. Springfield would tie the game up at 43, courtesy of a 14-2 run over a three minute and 27 second span.

Reno responded with 20-6 run to end the half, which gave them a 63-49 lead going into the locker room. They started the second-half just as strong and outscored Springfield 31-11 in the third quarter. DeQuan Jones came off the bench to score 20 points on 8-for-11 shooting from the field. 10 of his points came in the third quarter to help the Bighorns put the game out of reach.

Reno shot .571 from the floor as a team and had five players score in double-figures. Mo Charlo and Trent Lockett had 17 points apiece. Mickell Gladness added 10 points and Brandon Heath tallied 10 assists in the showcase victory.

Dennis Horner led Springfield with a team-high 20 points on 9-of-18 shooting and Brooklyn Nets' assignee Tornike Shengelia recorded nine points and six rebounds in the loss.

Springfield will play in tomorrow's Showcase finale vs. the Iowa Energy at 3:30 p.m. Reno will head to Bakersfield to take on the Jam on Friday at 7 P.M.
