Tulsa Oilers News Release

ST. CHARLES, MO - In their first ever trip to St. Charles, the Tulsa Oilers trailed entering the third period but battled back to earn a 4-3 shootout win over the Chill on Wednesday night at Family Arena. The Oilers (10-7-2) won their third straight contest and have won ten of their last 12 games.

Tulsa forward Blair Macaulay opened the scoring by jamming a rebound past Robby Moss at the 10:40 mark of the first period. The even-strength tally, Macaulay's third of the season, came on the heels of two quality chances for the Chill that ended with pucks flying off of goal posts. The Oilers held the lead until 18:31 of the first when confusion behind the Tulsa net led to a shorthanded goal for the Chill. Oilers goalie Ross MacKinnon left the puck behind his net and Chill forward Martin Hlinka swooped in and immediately sent a pass to the waiting stick of Jordan Fox in front of the goal. The St. Charles captain slid the puck underneath MacKinnon and the Oilers surrendered their CHL-high sixth shorthanded goal of the season.

The Oilers regained the advantage just a couple of minutes into the second period when Drew Fisher fed Ryan Cramer from behind the Chill net. Cramer's quick snap shot buzzed past Moss to give the visitors a 2-1 edge. At 7:44 of the frame, St. Charles evened the score once again. Steve Makway's blast from the point created a big rebound and Anthony Perdicaro pounced to fire home his fourth goal of the season. The Chill took its first and only lead of the evening at 13:35 when Martin Hlinka cleaned up another Makway rebound by lifting a backhand over MacKinnon. St. Charles carried a 3-2 lead into the third period.

With just over seven minutes remaining in the third period, Michel Beausoleil was set up by a beautiful pass from Todd Robinson. Skating out of his own zone, Robinson released the puck between his own face off circles and connected with Beausoleil's tape at the St. Charles blue line. The veteran winger moved in one-on-one against Moss and tapped in the game-tying goal. Beausoleil extended his CHL-high goal streak to seven games and leads the Oilers with 13 goals on the season.

After a scoreless overtime frame, the Oilers got shootout goals from Robinson, Ben Gordon, and Ryan Menei. MacKinnon stopped three of the four Chill attempts to preserve the victory and help the Oilers earn the extra point. Tulsa improved to 2-2 in shootouts this season and ran its road record to 5-2-2.

The Oilers won for only the second time this season when trailing after two periods. Tulsa went 0-for-2 on its power play chances while the Chill cashed in one on of its two power play opportunities.

Tulsa's three-game road trip continues on Friday night in Missouri and concludes with a Saturday night tilt in Quad City.
