Troock's Hat Trick Snaps Norfolk's Win Streak

Norfolk Admirals News Release
DULUTH, GA - Branden Troock's hat trick propelled the Atlanta Gladiators to a 5-1 victory over the Norfolk Admirals at the Infinite Energy Arena Sunday afternoon. Despite the loss, the Admirals (6-3-0-0, 12 pts) remain tied in points with Jacksonville and South Carolina for the top spot in the South Division. Norfolk's win streak comes to an end at three games.
Just as they did on Friday, the Gladiators grabbed the first tally of the game. Following a faceoff win, Ben Danford hurled a shot from the blue line that was tipped and redirected at the top of the crease by Branden Troock for the goal.
Despite being outshot 10-5 in the opening frame, Atlanta managed to take a two-goal lead into the second period with 40 seconds remaining in the period. Norfolk goaltender Ty Reichenbach played the puck behind his own net and attempted a pass to defensemen Chase Harrison. However, Reichenbach's pass was off the mark and was immediately intercepted by Alex Overhardt who snapped a shot past a diving Reichenbach for the goal.
Atlanta continued to build on its lead in the second, receiving a shorthanded goal from Brendan Troock at 6:50 of the period before making it a 4-0 edge on a rebound finish by Shane Eiserman. The fourth Atlanta tally signaled the end of Reichenbach's game and Brad Barone entered the game in relief.
The Admirals got on the board early in the third on a slow-rolling shot through traffic from Dan Maggio. Maggio's shot clipped through the five-hole goaltender Miroslav Svoboda.
Norfolk continued to press throughout the third period, but failed to convert on several precious power play opportunities keeping the deficit at three.
Troock completed his hat trick with 1:01 remaining in regulation when he picked up a loose puck on a turnover and snapped a shot high over the shoulder of Barone to seal the victory 5-1.
Svoboda was once again stellar, stopping 32 of 33 shots faced. Reichenbach takes the loss allowing four goals, while Barone stopped 14 of 15 shots faced in a relief effort.
Three Stars
1. Branden Troock (ATL) - 3 goas
2. Olivier Galipeau (ATL) - 2 assists, +3
3. Shane Eiserman (ATL) - 1 goal
