Beast Fall to Cyclones on Sunday Afternoon

BRAMPTON, ONTARIO - Brandon Marino scored his second goal in as many games but the Brampton Beast dropped a 6-3 contest against the Cincinnati Cyclones on Sunday afternoon.
The Brampton Beast took on the Cincinnati Cyclones for the second time in two days on Sunday afternoon. The Cyclones got the scoring started with goal from Vasili Glotov at 7:49.
The Beast were able to rally back, as Nathan Todd evened the score up 1-1 at 15:43. The former Ottawa 67 took a beautiful feed from Daniel Ciampini and David Vallorani and slid it through the pads of Cyclones starter Jonas Johansson.
The Cyclones fought back and were able to score a beautiful goal off a Beast turnover. It was Mike Marnell sending it home for a 2-1 lead at 17:47.
Brampton would retire to their dressing room down by a score of 2-1 and trailing in shots by a count of 10-5.
The second period began with the Cyclones once again being the more aggressive team. They were rewarded with a goal from Brady Vail at 9:51. Not long after, the Cyclones got one on the power play, with Jesse Schultz getting the final touch in front.
Brampton continued to fight and Jonathan Racine, who was recently sent back from Belleville, was able to make it a 4-2 game at 13:47.
Not long after, Brandon Marino came down short-handed and was able to score his second goal in as many games to draw the Beast within one at 14:54. It was the second short-handed goal in as many games for the Beast.
The second would end with Brampton trailing by a score of 4-3 and down in shots by a count of 23-16.
Brampton needed a goal in the third period to tie the game, but despite a couple of power play chances, they were unable to find the back of the net. With goaltender Jake Paterson pulled and the net empty, the Cyclones would strike twice and extend their lead to 6-3.
That would be all she wrote, as Brampton split the weekend series with a win and a loss. Final shots on goal were 29-26 in favour of the Cyclones.
Notes: Molson Three Stars 3) Marino 2) Schultz (CIN) 1) Vail (CIN). Brampton finished the game zero-for-four on the man advantage. Cincinnati was one-for-four. The Beast have scored a short-handed goal for two straight contests. The Beast next play Wednesday night at 7:15 PM. The Adirondack Thunder come to town for the third meeting of the season.
