Cyclones Tame Beast in Weekend Finale

Brampton, ON - The Cincinnati Cyclones (5-2-2-0) took down the Brampton Beast, 6-3 on Sunday afternoon, in the finale of their three-game weekend. Forward Brady Vail led the way with a pair of goals, while forwards Vas Glotov, Mike Marnell, Justin Vaive, and Alex Wideman recorded lone tallies for the Cyclones.
Cincinnati opened up the scoring 7:49 into the first when Glotov skated into the right circle and launched a backhander in past Beast goaltender Etienne Marcoux to put the 'Clones ahead, 1-0.
After Brampton tied the game, 1-1, on a goal from Nathan Todd, Cincinnati regained the lead with 2:13 to go in the frame, when forward Nate Mitton dug the puck off the end boards and sent a pass to Marnell in the high slot, and he blasted home a slapshot to give the Cyclones an 2-1 lead through 20 minutes.
The Cyclones came out of the gate firing in the second period, and pushed their lead to 3-1 when a point shot from defenseman Devante Stephens ricocheted off traffic to Schultz in front, and he slid a pass to Vail who slammed the puck on past goaltender Etienne Marcoux to give the 'Clones a two-goal lead.
Cincinnati tacked on one more just past the midway mark of the frame while on the power play, when Vaive crashed the net after a shot from the slot, and he stashed the puck into the net to put the Cyclones up by a 4-1 score.
Brampton was not deterred and pulled back to within a goal after the period on goals from defenseman Jonathan Racine, and forward Brandon Marino shorthanded to cut the Cyclones' lead to 4-3.
The Beast had a couple of quality scoring chances in the third, however Cyclones empty net goals from Wideman, and the second of the game from Vail seal Cincinnati's 6-3 win.
Cincinnati outshot the Beast, 29& on the evening, with goaltender Jonas Johansson denying 23 in the win. Cincinnati returns home on Wednesday night to take on the Wheeling Nailers. Face-off is scheduled for 7:35pm ET.
