Montgomery Biscuits News Release

CHATTANOOGA, Ten. - The Biscuits (22-27) fought from behind for most of the game and were on the verge of taking the lead against the Chattanooga Lookouts (30-19) in the top of the eighth when an ill-timed, almost unbelievable triple play quashed those hopes, and Montgomery dropped a wild one to their North Division rivals on Saturday night at AT&T Field, 11-10.

It was a bullpen day for the Biscuits so Travis Ott made his first Double-A spot start, but allowed four runs through his first two innings, and Chattanooga led 4-0 at the end of two. The Biscuits pulled two runs back in the third against Lookouts starter Anthony Marzi on a Brandon Lowe RBI-fielder's choice and a Brett Sullivan sac fly.

The Lookouts would score in each of the first six innings, tallying just one in the third but two in each of the other frames, and led the Biscuits, 9-4, entering the sixth. That's when Montgomery mounted a major comeback thanks to three walks by Paco Rodriguez-one with the bases loaded-and an RBI-single by Ryan Boldt to make it a 9-6 game. Boldt finished the game 4-for-4 with a triple, three singles, and two RBIs.

The Biscuits weren't done in the sixth, however, as Sullivan came through with an RBI-single off Williams Ramirez (2-1), and David Rodriguez tied the game at nine with a two-run, opposite-field double.

Montgomery would give the lead back to Chattanooga in the bottom of the sixth on a pair of Matt Krook (1-2) wild pitches to put the Lookouts in front for good at 11-9.

In the eighth, the Biscuits mounted another comeback, loading the bases with nobody out for Lowe who was hit by a pitch to make it an 11-10 game. Chattanooga manager Tommy Watkins then dipped into his bullpen again and brought on Ryne Harper.

With nobody out and the bases still loaded, Sullivan swung at Harper's first pitch and appeared to foul it straight into the ground. Lookouts catcher Brian Navaretto saw that it was barely fair in front of the plate, however, and then picked the ball up, stepped on home for the force out, then threw to third for the second out, before third baseman Chris Paul gunned it all the way across the diamond to first to get Sullivan for an astounding, inning-ending triple play leaving the Biscuits speechless.

The Biscuits were denied a tying run in the ninth, and Chattanooga hung on for the win to force a rubber match on Sunday when Eduar Lopez (2-2) will battle Cody Stashak (1-0) at 5:15 PM CT.

The Biscuits will continue their current 10-game road trip until they return home to Montgomery on May 29 when the Jackson Generals will be in town for Wings Fest and the Gathering of Eagles Celebration. The series will also feature Country Music Night featuring a T-Shirt Giveaway presented by WLWI on Thursday, May 31, Gump in the Gump featuring Greenbow Biscuits Jersey Auction and MAX Fireworks on Friday, June 1, and Flight Night featuring a C-130 Figurine Giveaway presented by AUM and MAX Fireworks on Saturday, June 2.
