PENSACOLA, Fla. - The Wahoos could not get their third straight win in the series as the Smokies bested Pensacola, 5-0, in front of a capacity crowd Saturday night at Blue Wahoos Stadium.

It would be a tough night for Pensacola starter Vladimir Guiterrez (L, 1-7). A home run by Eddy Martinez gave Tennessee a 1-0 lead in the top of the second. The Smokies added to their lead with four runs over the fourth and fifth innings. In the fourth, Jesse Hodges doubled home Ian Rice before Eddy Martinez scored later on a double play ball. Rice made it 5-0 with a two-run homer in the fifth.

Cubs number three prospect Oscar De La Cruz (W, 5-3) had a solid outing for the Smokies. De La Cruz pitched seven shutout innings, with no walks and seven strikeouts. Jake Stinnett was called to close out the last inning and retired all three Wahoos to secure the Smokies victory.

The start of Sunday's series finale has been moved to 1:05 p.m. due to the projected path of Tropical Storm Alberto. The Blue Wahoos will look to take the series with right-hander Wyatt Strahan (4-3, 6.29) on the mound against Smokies right-handed pitcher Michael Rucker (4-2, 4.10). Coverage of tomorrow's game can be found on the radio at 97.1 The Ticket, 1490 AM Milton, and www.bluewahoos.com while the televised broadcast can be seen on BlabTV.
