Wichita Thunder News Release

Wichita, KS - Neil Trimm broke out on Friday night, recording a natural hat trick in the second period to pace the Thunder (13-6-2) to a 6-2 win over the Tulsa Oilers (8-12-2) at INTRUST Bank Arena. Trimm finished with four points while Matt Summers had a goal and two assists in the victory. Wichita leads the season-series 2-1 and will host Tulsa a week from Saturday for Teddy Bear Toss Night, presented by Bank of the West and the Law Office of Slape and Howard.

It didn't take the Thunder long to enjoy the friendly confines of INTRUST Bank Arena, scoring 39 seconds into the first. Summers found RG Flath cutting to the net and he was able to beat Ian Keserich over the glove to make it 1-0. Tulsa evened things up at 2:08 as Ryan Cramer put a one-timer in from the high slot. Three minutes later, Wichita re-gained the lead on a beautiful re-direction by Summers that squirted through Keserich to make it 2-1.

The second period belonged to Trimm, scoring his first 1:10 in. Ian Lowe made a nice play behind the Oilers net, popped the puck in the air to the left post where Trimm was able to settle it down with his right hand and made it 3-1. His second of the period came at 6:44 from Summers and Kevin Young. After a broken play at the Oilers line, Trimm scored his third at 13:25 with a beautiful toe-drag wrister that forced Keserich out of the game and gave the Thunder a 5-1 advantage.

Todd Griffith got into the act in the third period, scoring at 7:39 to extend the lead to 6-1. Tulsa would add a late goal from Cramer, his second of the night, to make it 6-2 and the Thunder skated away with their second-straight win.

Griffith and Flath each had a goal and an assist. Nathan Lutz recorded his 300th point of his career with an assist and Kevin Regan won for the eighth time this season, stopping 20 of 22 shots. Over the last seven games, Regan is 5-1-1. Wichita has outscored the Oilers 14-4 in the last two contests.

Wichita went 0-for-5 on the power play while the Oilers were 1-for-5.

Wichita will hit the road tomorrow night to take on the Allen Americans for the first time this season. The Thunder will return home on Sunday afternoon to take on the Quad City Mallards at 5:05 p.m., presented by Speedy Cash.
