Americans Welcome Expansion Cutthroats
December 7, 2012 - Central Hockey League (CHL)
Allen Americans News Release
Allen, Texas - The Allen Americans host the expansion Denver Cutthroats, tonight at 7:05 pm at the Allen Event Center.
This is the first ever meeting between the two clubs. The Cutthroats are the first expansion team in the CHL since the Americans & Missouri Mavericks joined the Central Hockey League in the 2009-2010 season.
Denver is off to a great start at 11-8-1, and is currently tied for third overall in the Central Hockey League.
The Cutthroats are led by former Fort Worth Brahmas forward A.J Gale, who has 28 points in 20 games this season. Gale also scored the first ever hat trick in Denver Cutthroats history, on October 20th vs. Missouri.
"They are not a typical CHL type expansion team," said Americans Head Coach Steve Martinson during his radio show last night on KLAK. "You can build a talented team pretty quickly at this level, and they have done a good job of that."
The Americans lead the Central Hockey League with 27 points (13-4-1), one point ahead of second place Wichita, who is up next for the Americans on Saturday night.
