Three Things You Need to Know

1.) Monthly Awards Handed Out- The CHL's monthly awards for November were announced this week with Allen taking home both the player and goaltender honors with Brett Skinner and Aaron Dell earning the nods. Bloomington forward Tyler Gron earned the 50/50 Central Rookie of the Month honor and Denver's Kieran Millan is the winner of the Oakley Three Stars Player of the Month thanks to his 22 points during November. Skinner is the league leader among defensemen with 21 points and Dell went 5-1 in November and is the current leader in the CHL with a 2.01 GAA. Gron scored nine goals with nine assists in the month of November.

2.) Last 10- Over the last 10 games for every club in the CHL, the two hottest teams are the Wichita Thunder (12-6-2) and the Denver Cutthroats (11-8-1). Both are 7-2-1 in their last 10 contests and both have steadily climbed up the standings with the Thunder sitting in second place, just a point behind Allen for first place, and the Cutthroats sitting tied for third with 23 points. This weekend, the Thunder host Tulsa on Friday night and then travel to Allen on Saturday night and end the weekend by returning home to face Quad City. Denver is at Allen on Friday night and then at Fort Worth on Saturday night.

3.) Road Warriors- The Missouri Mavericks (9-8-2) won their third straight game overall and fifth straight road game on Thursday night beating the Bloomington Blaze, 3-1. The Mavs five straight road victories are the most by any team in the CHL this season and is one road victory away from tying the franchise record of six straight road wins. Ryan Jardine had a goal and an assist and Sebastien Thinel had three helpers pacing the offense against the Blaze. The win for Missouri was the first this season when their opponent was coming off a loss (the Blaze lost in Rapid City on Saturday). The Mavs will go for their sixth straight road victory on Friday night in Quad City against the Mallards.

By the Numbers

586: The current number of CHL games that Missouri forward Sebastien Thinel has played in his CHL career moving him into 10th place on the league's all-time games played list. The veteran forward moved past Don Margettie after last night's game in Bloomington. Thinel has been on fire lately scoring five goals with 14 assists in his last 11 games and last night in the Mavs 3-1 victory over the Blaze, the veteran assisted on all three Missouri goals.

One-Timers

-The Tulsa Oilers (8-11-2) and the Wichita Thunder (12-6-2) battle tonight for the third time this season and for the 228th time in the history of the two clubs. Wichita has won 117 of the previous meetings and Tulsa has won 110 of them as the series is almost split directly down the middle. This year, the two clubs have split a pair of games.

-The Quad City Mallards lead the league with four shorthanded goals this season and forward Mickey Lang is tied for the league lead with a pair of them (Tulsa's Michel Beausoleil also has two SHG's). The Mallards penalty kill is fourth in the league at 83.2%.

-Wichita's Kevin Regan has been on fire in net since mid-November going 4-1-1 in his last six decisions allowing just 12 goals over that stretch. His only regulation loss was a 2-0 set-back to the Cutthroats. Regan is 7-5-2 on the season with the league's second best goals against average at 2.26.

-The Rapid City Rush has been the best third period team in the CHL this season outscoring the opposition by six goals so far (19-13). The Rush has struggled to open the games being outscored by nine goals in the first period (10-19). Rapid City has played the most one-goal games in the league this season, 12, and have posted a 6-2-4 record in the tight games.

-The Fort Worth Brahmas (9-8-2) put their four-game home win streak on the line this weekend when they host Denver on Saturday night and Tulsa on Sunday afternoon.

-Denver has scored the first goal in a game more than any other team in the CHL notching the opening tally in 14 of their 20 contests so far. In those games, the Cutthroats are 10-3-1.

-Be sure to catch all of the action on CHL-TV all season long.
