Tri-City Wins Five Consecutive Games

KEARNEY, NE. - The Tri-City Storm has won five consecutive games for the first time this season following Friday's 7-4 home victory over the Sioux Falls Stampede. The Storm reached a new season-high for most goals netted in a single game in the win. Trevor Connelly (2), Tanner Adams (2), Jake Richard, Sebastian Törnqvist, and Cale Ashcroft scored Tri-City's goals in the victory. The Storm improved to 4-0-0-0 in head-to-head matchups against the Stampede, and 23-16-2-3 overall on the season in Friday's three-goal win on home ice. Patriks Bçrziòð notched the win in net for Tri-City after starting goaltender Cameron Korpi left the game due to an injury in the 2nd period. Tri-City will host Sioux Falls tomorrow night at the Viaero Center in a rematch of Friday's game. Puck drop for the battle is scheduled for 7:05pm CT.

Isaac Gordon gave the Stampede a one-goal lead near the midway point of Friday's opening period. The goal was netted at 9:56 of the 1st period, and was scored on the powerplay. Samuel Harris and Nick Ring provided the assists on the scoring play. Noah Andersson scored his fourth goal of the season in the final three minutes of 1st period to give Sioux Falls a 2-0 advantage in the matchup. The goal was netted at 17:24 of the period, and was assisted by Jack Phelan and Clint Levens. The Stampede outshot the Storm 9-6 in the 1st period, and carried a 2-0 lead into Friday's middle period.

Tri-City roared back with four unanswered goals to secure a multi-goal lead in the matchup during the 2nd period. Jake Richard netted the Storm's first goal of the contest at 4:57 of the middle period to cut the Stampede's lead in half. The goal was Richard's team-leading twenty-third of the year, and was assisted by Trevor Connelly. Connelly scored his first goal of the game, and thirteenth goal of the season less than a minute later to bring the game to a 2-2 tie. The goal was netted at 5:17 of the 2nd period, and was assisted by Dane Dowiak. Tri-City captured the lead in the matchup at 6:29 of the 2nd period with Sebastian Törnqvist's tenth goal of the year. Graham Gamache recorded an assist on the go-ahead goal. The Storm's final goal in a run of four straight was scored by Trevor Connelly at 15:56 of the 2nd period. The scoring play was Connelly's second of the game, and fourteenth of the year. Seth Constance and Daimon Gardner each notched an assist on the play. The Stampede answered back with a breakaway goal scored by Will McDonough at 17:40 of the period. The goal was McDonough's tenth scoring play of the year, and was scored unassisted. Storm netminder Cameron Korpi was injured on the play, and was replaced in goal by Patriks Bçrziòð. Tri-City outshot Sioux Falls 12-10 in the 2nd period, and carried a 4-3 lead into Friday's 3rd period.

Tanner Adams scored his tenth goal of the season twenty-two seconds into the final period to give the Storm a 5-3 lead in the battle. The goal was assisted by August Falloon and Cale Ashcroft. Ashcroft scored a powerplay goal at 5:16 of the period to give Tri-City a three-goal advantage in the matchup. The goal was Ashcroft's sixth of the season, and was assisted by Trevor Connelly. Samuel Harris answered with a powerplay goal for the Stampede at 9:26 of the 3rd period to bring Sioux Falls within two-goals of the Storm's lead. The goal was assisted by Nick Ring and Max Rud. The final goal of Friday's contest was scored into an empty net by Tanner Adams. Adams' goal was his second of the period, and eleventh of the year. The scoring play came at 16:12 of the period, and was unassisted. The Storm outshot the Stampede 10-7 in the 3rd period, and 28-26 overall in the matchup.

Cameron Korpi made 14 saves on 17 shots in 37:40 of playing time during the first two periods for Tri-City. Patriks Bçrziòð denied 8 of Sioux Falls' 9 shots on goal in just over twenty minutes of time in goal to record the victory in net for the Storm. He improved to 5-1-0-0 on the year in goal for Tri-City in the victory. Xavier Medina stopped 21 of Tri-City's 27 shots on goal during the contest, and recorded the loss in net for Sioux Falls. He dropped to 11-12-3-0 on the year in goal for the Stampede in the three-goal road loss.

The Storm improved to 10-4-1-2 in games played at the Viaero Center this season in the victory. Tri-City has won five games in a row for the first time this season, and is currently riding a season-high six-game point streak following the 7-4 victory. Attendance for Friday's home game in Kearney was 1,967. Trevor Connelly was named the 1st Star of the Game, with teammates Tanner Adams and Cale Ashcroft recording 2nd and 3rd Star honors, respectively.
