Tri-City Seeks Bounce Back Win against Stars

LINCOLN, NE. - The Tri-City Storm seeks a bounce-back victory tonight over the Lincoln Stars following last night's 6-4 road loss to the Omaha Lancers. Tanner Adams, Lleyton Roed, Drew Montgomery, and Gavin Brindley each scored in Friday's loss. Tri-City won the only previous meeting this season against the Stars by a final score of 4-1 on October 1st. Puck drop at the Ice Box for tonight's rivalry matchup is scheduled for 7:05pm CT.
Tri-City (14-3-1-0) trailed for the first time this season entering last night's 3rd period against Omaha. The Storm trailed by three goals on two separate occasions and twice netted back-to-back goals to come within one goal of tying the game. The Storm tied a season-high for most goals allowed in the 1st period (3) in Friday's 6-4 road loss to Omaha. Tri-City also allowed three 1st period goals in a 6-4 road loss to the Sioux City Musketeers on October 22nd. Despite dropping back-to-back games, Tri-City continues to boast the best winning percentage in the USHL this season (.806%). The Storm's powerplay rose to second-best in the USHL in last night's road loss to the Lancers (25.5%). Tri-City's penalty kill remains second-best in the league following Friday's result (87.5%). The Storm fell to 1-3-0-0 when trailing after the 1st period and 0-1-0-0 when trailing after the 2nd period in last night's loss. Tri-City has posted a 23-9-0-1 record against the Stars in head-to-head matchups over the last five seasons. The Storm is 11-6-0-1 over the last five seasons in games played at the Ice Box. Tri-City posted a 6-3-0-1 record against the Stars in last year's ten-game season series. The Storm is now 8-1-1-0 in the team's last ten games. Following tonight's road game against Lincoln, Tri-City will return to action next weekend with three road games against Omaha and Sioux Falls.
Lincoln (11-5-1-1) seeks to complete a weekend sweep over two Western Conference opponents following Friday's 5-1 home win over the Sioux City Musketeers. Luke Johnson, Dalton Norris, Aidan Thompson, Gleb Veremyev, and Lucas Wahlin all netted goals in last night's victory. Kaiden Mbereko turned away 30 of Sioux City's 31 shots on net to record the victory in goal for the Stars. Scoring leaders for Lincoln entering tonight's home game against Tri-City include Dalton Norris (7), Luke Johnson (7), Lucas Wahlin (6), Noah Laba (4), Michael Mastrodomenico (4), Gleb Veremyev (4). Tonight's game is the second game in the Stars' current five-game homestand at the Ice Box. Six of Norris' seven goals have been scored on the powerplay. His six powerplay goals scored this season are tied for the most by any player in the Western Conference (Gavin Brindley- TC, Tanner Latsch- SC). Lincoln's powerplay scored a 1st period goal in Friday's home win over Sioux City and is ranked seventh in the league entering tonight's game (22.5%). The Stars' penalty kill finished last night's game 4/4 and is now the top-ranked penalty kill in the USHL (87.8%). After hosting the Storm at the Ice Box tonight, Lincoln will return to action next weekend in back-to-back home games against the Fargo Force.
