Tri-City Storm News Release

Urbandale, Ia. - The Tri-City Storm earned points in its 12th straight game, matching its longest point streak ever, in a 6-3 demolition of the Des Moines Buccaneers Friday at Buccaneer Arena.

Walker Duehr had a career-best three assists, while Paul Washe and Brandon Duhaime had three-point games. Reilly Walsh, 16, scored his first goal and added an assist in his league debut. Ben Taylor also notched his first USHL goal.

All the while, the Storm's engine continued to chug, picking up points in its 21st straight conference game. The Storm is in sole possession of first place in the conference with 65 points after the Des Moines loss.

Jake Kielly has points in 19 straight appearances (13-0-4-2) after making 19 saves.

Tri-City last had a 12-game point streak in its inaugural season, 2000-01.

Tri-City came out on fire, attempting the first 12 shots and keeping the Buccaneers without a shot for the opening 13 minutes. For the first goal, Wahlin ripped the puck to Washe at the left slot. Settling a bouncing biscuit, Washe cranked a shot to the five-hole through Ruzicka at 1:53.

Washe has eight goals this season, two against Des Moines. His linemates Wahlin and Duehr had the helpers.

Three-second period goals carried the Storm to a 4-2. Goals by Duhaime, Taylor and Wahlin in a seven-minute span helped Tri-City finish the second strong.

Duhaime triggered the offense with a far-post shot from the left wall at 13:52. Assisted by Duehr, Duhaime's goal was his third as a Storm player.

Next, 1:27 later, Ben Taylor batted the puck from his chest to the floor and shot it through Ruzicka. The goal put the Storm up, 3-1.

The last minute of the second featured a pair of back-and-forth sequences that resulted in the Storm taking a two-goal edge into the third. After a penalty-shot goal by Zach Jordan with 17 seconds left, Tri-City's Washe pounced. The 17-year-old forward no-looked a pass to the slot for a Wahlin tip-in with five seconds left.

In the third, Reilly Walsh lifted a puck in the slot at 1:22 to give Tri-City a three-goal edge, 5-2. After a Des Moines goal, Carson Meyer potted his team-best 27th goal into the empty net for the icing.

The Storm returns home on Saturday, March 19 for a showdown against Sioux City. Puck drops at 7:05 p.m. for I Heart Country and Ag Appreciation Night, presented by G.I. Family Radio. Plus, college students get $6 tickets on College Night!
