Lincoln, Neb. - Bloomington exploded offensively, beating the Stars 6-2 in U.S. Cellular Coliseum on Friday night.
Bloomington struck first, making it 1-0 with a power play goal just 2:49 into the game. Logan Lambdin's goal marked his 25th of the season.
Vlad Dzhioshvili extended the Thunder's lead to 2-0 nearly five minutes later when he powered a rebound past Stars goalie Patrik Virtanen.
The Thunder took a 2-0 lead into the first intermission.
Biagio Lerario put the Stars on the board at 1:32 of the second, pinging a shot off the right post past Thunder goalie Logan Halladay. Tanner Laczynski and Ryan Poehling earned assists on the play.
Bloomington would neutralize the Stars' efforts late in the period with goals from Jake Slaker and Lambdin before the horn. The goals were scored less than two minutes apart.
Mike Gillespie cut the Bloomington lead to 5-2 with a power play goal at 13:46 of the third, but the Thunder added an empty netter to make it a 6-2 final.
Virtanen finished with 27 saves.
