Youngstown Phantoms News Release

YOUNGSTOWN, OH - The Youngstown Phantoms fell to the Muskegon Lumberjacks by a final score of 3-2 Friday night in Michigan. After falling behind 3-0, Youngstown was able to fight back and make it a one goal game, but were unable to find an equalizer in the final minutes.

The Lumberjacks were able to draw first blood towards the end of a highly contested first period. USHL leading scorer Rem Pitlick started the rush for Muskegon, saucing a cross-ice pass for defenseman Graham Lillibridge. Lillibridge's shot was saved by Phantoms netminder Colin DeAugustine, but Collin Adams was there to slot home the rebound for his 22nd goal of the season.

Youngstown came out flying in the second frame with a couple of quality scoring chances, including a shot off the cross-bar by Yushiroh Hirano. The Phantoms were unable to get one past Lumberjacks goaltender Joey Daccord, despite outshooting Muskegon.

A power play goal just about half way through the second period gave Muskegon a two goal advantage. Dante Palecco was the beneficiary of some nifty passing by Muskegon, and put one past DeAugustine for his 11th tally this year.

Pitlick would record his third assist of the night just over five minutes into the final frame, finding Paulovic behind the play. Paulovic's wrist shot gave the Lumberjacks a 3-0 lead, and wound up being the game winning goal.

The Phantoms would fight back, breaking Daccord's shutout just a minute later when Ty Farmer scored his first ever USHL goal with a slap shot from the point.

Youngstown defenseman Connor Moore would cut Muskegon's lead in half with a blast of his own, and gave the Phantoms life with just over eight minutes left in regulation.

The Phantoms had chances to tie the contest, but Daccord made a handful of solid saves to preserve the victory for Muskegon.

Youngstown and Muskegon will meet again Saturday night, with puck drop set for 7:15 p.m.
