The Tri-City Dust Devils kept pace with the Spokane Indians for first place in the Northwest League East Division Tuesday night, defeating the Yakima Bears 6-3. After falling behind 3-2, Tri-City answered back with four runs in the seventh on their way to their 17th win of the season.

Tri-City (17-15) starting pitcher Vianney Mayo once again pitched well, but failed to earn a decision, going six innings and allowing two runs on five hits. Dust Devils reliever Craig Bennigson (1-2) picked up his first win of the season, going two innings and allowing one run on two hits. Tri-City closer Ken Roberts (SV, 4) earned his fourth save of the season, working a perfect ninth inning.

Yakima (11-21) starting pitcher Teo Gutierrez also did not earn a decision, matching Mayo's impressive performance. Gutierrez went six innings and allowed two runs on five hits while striking out eight. Bears Reliever Miles Reagan (0-3) was tagged with his third loss of the year, allowing three unearned runs without recording an out.

Dust Devils outfielder Jared Simon continued his solid play of late, going 2-for-2 with two walks and three runs batted in. Those three runs came on a seventh inning three-run home run by Simon, who now has driven in a run in four consecutive games and eight total in those four games.

The series finale and rubber game between the Bears and Dust Devils is Wednesday night at Gesa Stadium, with first pitch at 7:15 p.m. Wednesday night is also Veteran's Night at Gesa Stadium with those who have served our country being honored throughout the game.
