(Altoona, PA)- Thunder Starting Pitcher Jeremy Bleich hurled seven shutout innings to lift the Thunder to a 5-2 victory over Altoona on Friday night from Blair County Ballpark in Altoona, PA. Trenton has now won two straight, after six straight defeats.

Trenton (52-53) scored four runs in the top of the first inning against Altoona Starting Pitcher Phil Dumatrait (0-1). Center fielder Austin Krum led off the bottom of the first inning with a single. With one out, Shortstop Eduardo Nunez singled to advance Krum to third base. Right fielder Jesus Montero followed with an RBI single to give the Thunder a 1-0 lead. First baseman Chris Malec was then hit by a pitch to load the bases. Designated Hitter Noah Hall cleared the bases with a three-run double to give the Thunder a 4-0 lead. Trenton entered the game being out-scored by opponents 64-27 in the first inning of games this season.

The Thunder increased the lead to 5-0 in the third inning. Malec singled home Nunez to add to the lead. Malec went 2 x 3 with a run, RBI and walk. Montero had three hits, including two doubles in the win. Krum and Nunez also had multi-hit games in the win. Altoona Third baseman Pedro Alvarez had three of Altoona's eight hits in the loss.

Bleich (2-4) tossed a season-high seven innings in the win. He yielded only four hits, and retired 11 batters in a row during one stretch. Bleich struck out five and did not walk a batter. Altoona did not have a player advance past first base against Bleich. Dumatrait allowed nine hits and five runs in four innings to take the loss. Thunder Relievers Grant Duff and Jose Valdez combined to pitch the final two innings to complete the victory. Altoona (42-65) scored two runs in the ninth inning. First baseman Jason Delaney had an RBI single, and Designated Hitter Miles Durham scored the second run of the frame on a wild pitch by Valdez. The Thunder finished the month of July with a 14-15 record.

Trenton continues its three-game series in Altoona on Saturday night. RHP Lance Pendleton (0-0, 0.00) will make his Thunder debut against RHP Tim Alderson (6-1, 3.47). Alderson will be making his Curve debut after getting traded by the San Francisco Giants to the Pittsburgh Pirates in exchange for former Thunder infielder Freddy Sanchez. Game time is set for Saturday at 7:05 p.m.
