(Harrisburg, PA) - RHP Adam Mills (9-5) became the first pitcher in franchise history to win six starts in one month as the Sea Dogs (51-54) cruised by the Harrisburg Senators (47-57) 8-3 in the series opener on Friday night at Metro Bank Park. Mills hurled 7 strong innings, yielding five hits on three runs, no walks and fanned three.

Portland's top four hitters (SS Yamaico Navarro, CF Ryan Kalish, 3B Jorge Jimenez and 1B Jon Still) went a combined 9-for-19 (.474), HR and 6 RBI. Mills finished July 6-0, 2.31 ERA (9 ER/35 IP) and became the second pitcher in franchise history to win seven straight starts (LHP Dave Gassner won seven in a row to end the 2008 season).

Still (2-for-4) established a franchise record with his 13th double of the month to lead off the second inning and scored on DH Lars Anderson's (1-for-4, RBI) single to give Portland a 1-0 lead.

The Sea Dogs sent nine men to the plate in the third and scored three times off LHP Matt Chico (2-3), who left in the middle of the inning with an undisclosed injury. Chico suffered the loss, yielding six hits and 4 runs over 2+ innings. RHP Carlos Martinez went four effective innings for Harrisburg, allowing three hits, one run and fanned five.

RF Reid Engel (2-for-4, 2 RS) led off the frame with a single and LF Matt Sheely walked to set up Navarro's (2-for-5, 2 RBI) 2-run double. Kalish (3-for-5, RBI, 2 2B) followed with a single and Chico left the game and was relieved by Martinez. Jimenez (2-for-5, HR, 3 RBI) struck a run-scoring single over the pitchers glove and Portland a 4-0 advantage.

Kalish produced a 2-out run for the Sea Dogs in the fourth inning with a scorching double down the right-field line to score Engel. The Jersey native had his 10-game hitting streak snapped last night but is hitting .300 (60-for-200) since June 1 with 5 HR and 27 RBI.

Harrisburg struck for three runs off Mills in the fifth and cut the deficit to 5-3. DH Joel Guzman (11th) and 1B Bill Rhinehart (9th) hit back-to-back homers to start the inning. 3B Matt Whitney doubled advanced to third base on a ground out and scored on a sac-fly by C Sean Rooney. In the 9th inning, Jimenez crushed a 2-run homer into the right-field seats and C Juan Apodaca delivered a run-scoring single.

RHP Chris Province tossed two scoreless frames to earn his seventh hold and RHP Bryce Cox sealed the win with a clean ninth. The Sea Dogs end a 2-game losing streak and improve to 2-3 on the trip.

Notes...Navarro picked up his first 2 Double-A RBI's with his double in the third...Mills has five career 7-inning appearances (one last year) and four this year - all on the road... OF Josh Reddick was promoted to the Boston Red Sox before the game and OF Jason Place was activated from the disabled list...Reddick hit for RF Rocco Baldelli in the 9th inning and grounded to short, he was faced former Sea Dogs RHP Cla Meredith.
