(Trenton, NJ)- Trenton Designated Hitter Matt Cusick had a three-run double, and the Thunder topped Reading 5-1 on Thursday night from Waterfront Park. Trenton's crowd of 7,994 was its largest of the season, and the eighth largest in franchise history. Trenton won four of its last six games against Reading.

Trenton took a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the fifth inning. With one out, Right fielder Edwar Gonzalez singled against Reading Starting Pitcher Yohan Flande. Third baseman Marcos Vechionacci followed with an infield single to move Gonzalez to second base. Second baseman Justin Snyder produced Trenton's third consecutive single off of Flande, which brought home Gonzalez to make it 1-0. Later in the frame, Center fielder Austin Krum plated Vechionacci with a sacrifice fly RBI. Reading chipped away with a run in the sixth inning on an RBI groundout by First baseman Brian Stavisky to make it 2-1. The Thunder stretched the lead to 5-1 in the seventh inning with three runs. With the bases loaded and two outs in the frame, Designated Hitter Matt Cusick connected on a bases-clearing double off of Reading Reliever Mike Zagurski.

Trenton Starting Pitcher Zach McAllister (6-4) hurled five shutout innings to pick up his first win since June 5th. He allowed only three hits. McAllister struck out three without walking a batter. Flande allowed four hits and two runs in six innings. He struck out five and walked two. Vechionacci went 1 x 2 with two runs for the Thunder. Thunder Reliever Josh Schmidt struck out the side in the ninth inning.

Trenton starts a three-game series in Harrisburg on Friday night. RHP Ryan Pope (4-9, 5.06) will start for Trenton against Harrisburg RHP Luis Atilano (7-7 4.25).
