Rock Cats Defeat Erie

New Britain, CT - Whit Robbins lined a base hit into left field to knock in Toby Gardenhire for the in the bottom of the 12th inning in the Rock Cats' 1-0 walk-off win over Erie on Thursday night.

Ryan Mullins and Jon Kibler engaged in an old fashioned pitchers' duel in the early portion of the game. Mullins struck out nine while scattering eight hits in seven shutout innings. Kibler limited the Rock Cats to five hits in six scoreless innings while striking out seven.

Both teams' bullpens picked up where their starters left off. For the Rock Cats, Frank Mata tossed 1 2/3 shutout innings in relief. Spencer Steedley finished off the ninth and Kyle Waldrop (3-2) added three perfect innings to keep the SeaWolves off the scoreboard.

Jason Waddell and Brett Jensen combined for five scoreless innings in relief out of the SeaWolves' bullpen.

The Rock Cats had the opportunity to win in the 11th inning when Brandon Roberts and Rene Tosoni hit consecutive singles with one out. Jensen intentionally walked Erik Lis to load the bases and bring Wilson Ramos to the plate. Ramos, in his first game since coming off the disabled list, struck out to end the game.

Zach Simons (1-2) suffered the loss after allowing the lone run of the game.
