Sens complete sweep of B-Mets with 5-2 win

The Harrisburg Senators completed their first three-game road sweep in over a year with a 5-2 win over the B-Mets on Thursday night. The Sens have now won five in a row and moved to 55-61 on the season, just six games under .500 for the first time since early April when they were 2-8.

The Sens built a 4-0 lead on Thursday night, scoring a run in the 2nd inning on an infield single off the bat of Freddie Bynum. They took a 2-0 lead on a line-drive home run to right field off the bat of Marvin Lowrance. The lead was built to 4-0 on a two-run double by Leonard Davis in the 5th before Binghamton struck for two of their own.

The Sens tacked on an insurance run in the 8th on a single by Bill Rhinehart scoring Davis.

Jeff Mandel started and pitched six innings in earning his third win with the Sens. Carlos Martinez pitched two scoreless innings and Drew Storen earned his second save in as many tries with a scoreless ninth. The game when Ricardo Nanita made a diving catch, moving towards the line, to rob Josh Thole of extra bases and keep the tying run from coming to the plate.

Bynum and Davis both had two hits for the Sens.

The Senators return home to begin a six-game homestand Friday night. The Trenton Thunder are in town over the weekend for a three-game series with the first game Friday night at 7:00pm. The Sens are looking to extend their winning streak to six games, which would match their season-high, which they have accomplished twice.
